Rex E. Brown, age 68, passed away at his residence on April 3, 2017, following a battle with dementia, surrounded by his family.
Funeral services for Rex will be conducted Thursday, April. 6, at 1:00 P.M. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Rev. Steve Swango officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends on Wednesday from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
Rex was born in Lawrence County on July 7, 1948, the son of the late John E. “Shorty” and Willie Sue Johnston Brown of Loretto. Rex was a UPS driver and a member of the Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Brown of Columbia; son, Chris (Kasie) Brown and daughters, Cynthia (Chuck) Pusser of Loretto, Debbie Stem of Columbia, and Cheryl (Rodney) Pinkleton of Hampshire, grandchildren, Ian and Bailey Brown, Kendall and Konner Pusser, Dayna (Matt) Tummins, Dyana Yearby, Denise (Doug) Tracy, Dustin Pinkleton and 6 great-grandchildren; one sister, Carolyn (Jeff) Leonard of Loretto.
Pallbearers will be Kerry Davis, Benny Latta, Rodney Pinkleton, Doug Tracy, Chris Brown, Konner Pusser and Ian Brown. Honorary pallbearers will be the employees of UPS. A special thank you to Tanna with Hospice Compassus, Dr. Bart and staff, Dr. Poling and staff and family friend, Wanda Tracy.
