Rev. Leslie Haywood Liles

December 26, 1918 — June 5, 2002

Rev. Leslie Haywood Liles, 83, resident of West Fork Road in the Mt. Joy Community died Wednesday, June 05, 2002, in Maury Regional Hospital.

Funeral services for Rev. Liles will be conducted Friday at 1:00 P.M. in the Mt. Joy Cumberland Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dwight Liles officiating. Burial will follow in the McClain Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 - 9:00 P.M. Thursday at Williams Mt. Pleasant Funeral Home.

Rev. Liles was a native of Lawrence County, the son of the late James Walter and Irene Adkisson Liles. He was a veteran of WW II, having served in the Pacific Theater Marine Corps Fourth Division. He was the husband of Jewel Wright Liles of Mt. Pleasant. He was retired from Stauffer Chemical Company. He was an ordained Cumberland Presbyterian minister. Before being ordained he served as an elder of the Mt. Joy Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He was active in the Mt. Pleasant PTA and the Mt. Pleasant High School and Hay Long High School Band Boosters during the time his boys were in school.

Survivors in addition to his wife include two sons, Leslie Haywood "Woody" Kathie Liles, Jr., of Louisville, KY, and Rev. Dwight Denise Liles of Mt. Pleasant; two sisters, Maymie Harris Liles Hester of Leoma, TN, and Evelyn James R. Liles Luckett of Mt. Pleasant.

Pallbearers will be Willard Grimes, Billy Grimes, David R. Johnson, Greg Johnson, Doug King, Odell Haywood, Jimmy McClain, Mickey Allen and Bruce Whitwell.
