Mr. Raymond Douglas "Doug" McClain, age 74, a resident of Mt. Pleasant, died Monday, December 29 at Maury Regional Medical Center, following a courageous fight with cancer.
Funeral services for Mr. McClain will be conducted 2:00 PM Wednesday, December 31 at the Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Rev. Dwight Liles officiating. Burial will follow in the McClain Cemetery in Lewis County.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 3:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
The Maury County native was the son of the late Raymond and Eloise York McClain of Mt. Joy Community and the husband of Connie Willis McClain. He was retired from Stauffer/Zenaca Chemical Company, a veteran of the US Army and a member of the Mt. Joy Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Jeff McClain, Payton McClain and Lisa McClain, all of Mt. Pleasant; grandchildren: Heather McClain of Mt. Pleasant and Brent McClain of Hohenwald; sisters: Betty Lee of Cross Bridges and Libby Benderman of Porters Chapel; special cousin: David Johnson; beloved sister-in-law: Tammy Adamson; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by two children: Raymond Douglas McClain Jr. and Julie Ann McClain; granddaughter: Lindsey Kristine McClain and a sister: Bobbye Chappell.
Pallbearers will be D.R. Johnson, Marvin Escue, John Benderman, Randy Benderman, Jimmy McClain, Mark Benderman, Ricky Chappell and Tony Chappell. Honorary pallbearers will be Grady Hayes, Odell Haywood, Charles "Corky" Duncan, Dwight York, Jerry York, Leon York, Dr. Andy Sisk, Dr. Gibran Naddy, Dr. Moataz Toban and the fellow Coffee Drinkers of Runway Market.
