Rayburn Dean Burks

Rayburn Dean Burks, age 65, a resident of Mt. Pleasant, passed away at Maury Regional Medical Center in the evening hours of March 2, 2014.

Born October 29, 1948 to the late Claude Dean and Mattie Virginia “Odom” Burks. Rayburn worked as a truck driver for 25 years. He loved cars, from driving to working on them. Rayburn loved tinkering with anything on wheels. He loved trail riding on the back roads. He also loved to ride on his lawn mower tractor. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends whether it was at his home, shopping, going out to eat or enjoying special events together. He was truly a great father and a wonderful husband that loved his family. He will be missed by all that knew him and forever loved.

Rayburn is survived by his: spouse of 44 years Catherine Burks; daughters: Penny Lynn (Shorty) Morton, Stephanie Ann Wray (Mike), and Cassey Deanna (Chris) Payne all of Mt. Pleasant. Granddaughters: Heather Nocole Morton and Ashley Kathleen Wray; Grandsons: Deno Wray, Trey Morton, and Dylan Jones; Great Granddaughters: McKenize and McKylie Payne. Rayburn is also survived by his close friend, Jimmy Dean Kennedy.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at Williams Funeral Home Mt. Pleasant from 4-8 p.m. Services will be held Wednesday, March 5th at 2:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home Mt. Pleasant, with burial to follow at Arlington Cemetery.

Chris Payne, Jackie Payne, Jack Gilcrist, Matt Morton, Jimmy Dean Kennedy and Tadpole Odom will serve as pallbearers.
