Mr. Roy Evans "Ray" Pantall, age 84, a resident of Owen Avenue in Columbia, passed away Monday, March 7, 2011 at NHC/Hillview.
Born November 11, 1926 in Williamson Co., son of the late H.M. and Floy Henderson Pantall. He was an electrician with Union Carbide. He was best known as the "little man on the Harley", which was his favorite pastime and his passion was mowing yards and watching NASCAR. He was a US Navy veteran of WWII.
Mr. Pantall is survived by his daughters: Pat Tom Pantall of Louisiana, Sandra Kenneth Womble of Ethridge, Nancy Marijan Perko of Columbia and Denise Hooten of Lansing, MI; sister: Jean Hargrove of Franklin; brother: Ralph Pantall of Ridgeland, MS; 7 grandchildren: Colene Fred Curtis of Gainesboro, TN, Wendy Shawn Davis of Boca Raton, FL, Brent Jessie Carpenter of Louisiana, Angel Hooten of Columbia, Stephanie Chris Hamm of Culleoka, Brianne Robert Pierce of Columbia and Karli Putnam of Columbia; 9 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son: Hal Pantall; a brother: Oliver Pantall and the mother of his children: Doris Pantall Pipkin.
A graveside inurnment for Mr. Pantall will be held 11:00 Am Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at the Polk Memorial Gardens Mausoleum with Rev. Derrick Hunter officiating and military honors provided by the US Navy. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Williams Funeral Home in Columbia.
