Ray Lewis Grooms

Mr. Ray Lewis Grooms, 67, died Wednesday February 4, 2004, at his residence on the Campbellsville Pike in the Southport Community.

Funeral services for Mr. Grooms will be conducted, Friday, February 6, 2004, at 2:00 p.m. at the Williams Columbia Funeral Home with Elmer Lusk, Reverend Dickey Lindsey and Rick Points officiating. Burial will be in the Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 4:00 until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

The Maury County native was the son of the late, William ?Bill? and Grace McCullom Grooms and the husband of Betty Lentz Grooms. He was a farmer and retired from Monsanto Chemical Company in the maintenance department.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Patti Blocker, David Ray Grooms, Debra Marvin Osborne and Pam Tony Cobble, all of Columbia; three sisters, Thelma Ray Floyd, Kathleen McCoy and Annie Pearl, all of Mt. Pleasant; two brothers, Harold Jessi Grooms of Mt. Pleasant and Alvin Grooms of Columbia; six grandchildren, Heather Blocker, Austin Pope, Prestin Pope, Tara Stanfill, Brittney Grooms and Whittney Grooms, all of Columbia.

Pallbearers will be Jim Bailey, Bart Kelly, John Moser, Jimmy Grooms, Mike Grooms, Jerry Beck, Mike Floyd, Larry Grooms, Jerry Grooms, and Steve Grooms.

Honorary pallbearers will be Enoch George, John ?Snowball? Mayberry, John Gilbreath, Charles Hubbell, Jerry McNeece Larry McNeece, Ralph Ussery, Don Thomas, Bailey Sims, Sam Boggle, Ed Wilson, Jerry Brunson, Terry Gibson, Blackie Norman, Billy Joe Vandiver, Ray Floyd, Bill Nance, Ron Morgan, the men and ladies of Bethel Church of Christ, staff of Hospice of the Highland Rim including Brown Couch, Dale Blair, Kaye ?Sugar Babe? Luna, and Sherise Blount.
