Cecil Ray Blocker

Mr. Cecil Ray Blocker, age 84, a resident of North High Street in Mt. Pleasant, passed away Thursday, November 7, 2013 at NHC Hillview Nursing Home of Columbia.

Born February 6, 1929, the Maury County native was the son of the late Grover Cleveland and Anna Wilna Bishop Blocker and was born in the Hampshire community. He was the husband of the late Bertha Marie Blocker to whom he was married for 58 years prior to her passing away on August 25, 2010. He worked for Tietgens Cee Bee Store form many years, working in customer service. Additionally, he worked as a volunteer fireman for many years in service to his community. He was a devoted family man and beloved by his wife and children. He was a longtime member of Main Street Church of Christ and served as a deacon to the congregation for many years.

He is survived by his children: Linda Marie Blocker of Columbia and David (Denise) Blocker of Mt. Pleasant; sister: Rubye (David) Westmoreland; grandchildren: Ashley (Tyler) Hughes, Kelsey (Devin) McKenzie, Drew Blocker, Crystal (Wayne) Helton and Jessica Grooms; great-grandchildren: Tristan Fox, Jade Hernandez, Tripp Helton, Lorelei Helton, Desi Wall, Braylin McKenzie and Jake Hughes. Survivors also include: his brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his siblings: Edith Staggs, Carl Blocker, Herbert Blocker, Alma Massey, Allen Blocker and Katie Winchester.

Funeral services for Mr. Blocker will be conducted on Saturday, November 9 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant. Burial will follow in the Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Friday from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Drew Blocker, Tyler Hughes, Devin McKenzie, Michael Massey, Nick Westmoreland, Tony Brown, Ricky Bennett, Bradley Thompson and Billy Staggs. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of Main Street Church of Christ, the staff of NHC Hillview and Hospice Compassus.

Memorials may be made to the Main Street Church of Christ, 210 N. Main St., Mt. Pleasant, TN 38474.
