Ramona Hernandez

Ramona Hernandez Varela, age 44, passed away July 4, 2015 at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville, TN.

Ramona was born in Coahuila, Mexico April 4, 1971 to Silverio and Juana Varela Hernandez. Ramona was a caretaker always caring for others but her family first. She even made a living by caring for others baby-sitting. Despite caring for everyone else she took care of herself and she never failed. She was very independent and strongly motivated. Anything that she needed she struggled to get it on her own. Even through hardship and struggle she never let her children go without. She embodied an incredible strength and loving nature that will be dearly missed.

Ramona is survived by her children: Blanca (Ismael) Ascencio of Columbia, TN, Miriam Carranza of Columbia, TN, Michelle Morales of Columbia, TN, Alfredo Carranza of Columbia, TN, and Eduardo Carranza of Columbia, TN; grandchildren: Jacqueline Carranza, Erik Carranza, Justin Carranza, Leslie Ascencio, Brayan Ascencio, Jaylah Ascencio, and Sophia; siblings: Fernando Hernandez, Armando Hernandez, Manuela Hernandez, Elodia Hernandez, Eva Hernandez, Maria Elena, Maria Trinidad Hernandez, Ana Laura Hernandez; aunts: Sandra and Guadalupe Hernandez; and boyfriend: Javier Morales Silva.

Ramona is preceded in death by: Jaime Hernandez.

The family will receive friends Monday, July 6, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia, TN. Services will be held Tuesday, July 7th at 2:00 p.m. also at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia, TN. Burial will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens.
