Phillip was born on October 3, 1946 to Harvey Poag and Maggie Patterson Poag in Columbia, Tennessee. He was a material handler for the Handy Button Machine Company.
Graveside services for Mr. Poag were held on Thursday, March 14, 2013 at Arlington Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant , Tennessee where he was laid to rest beside his wife, Sharon Jarrell Poag who preceded him in death.
Mr. Poag is survived by his children: Pamela Kaye Poag and Phillip Jackson Poag; granddaughter: Kayla Poag; and siblings: Wilma Katherine Howard, Patricia Terry, Anthony L. Poag and Rose M. Smith.
