Mrs. Peggy Gene Hinson Bates, 59, resident of Fleming Street, died Monday, April 22, 2002, in Maury Regional Hospital.
Funeral services for Mrs. Bates will be conducted Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Williams Columbia Funeral Home with Bobby Sampson officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
She was a native of Lewis County, the daughter of Myrtle Flowers Hinson of Estill Springs and the late James Otis Hinson. She was the wife of Charles L. Bates, Sr., of Columbia. She was a former employee of Fashion Fresh Cleaners, Fuji Photo Labs in Tullahoma and Ace Hardware. She was a member of the Estill Springs Church of Christ.
Survivors in addition to her mother and husband include one daughter, Debbie Kevin Farris of Estill Springs; two sons, Charles "Chuck" Dana Bates, Jr., of Williamsport and Barry Ross Krista Bates of Seffner, Fla.; one sister, Judy Lester Hensley of Estill Springs; six grandchildren, Justin Bates of Williamsport, Tabitha Bates of Seffner, Fla., Brennan Bates of Seffner, Fla., Ryan Marshall of Mt. Pleasant, Tiffany Marshall of Estill Springs and Joshua Marshall of Estill Springs; one great-grandchild, Keeley Lianna Marshall of Estill Springs. Several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Ryan Marshall, Ken Baltzer, Chuck Bates, Enoch George, Lester Hensley and Andre Martin. Honorary pallbearers will be Coo-Coo Marlin, Sterling Marlin, Steadman Marlin, Dr. Moataz Toban & staff, Dr. John Worthman & staff, Dr. Mark Messenger & staff, Dr. Donald Tucker & staff, Bill McDonald and past and present employees of Fashion Fresh Cleaners.
