Peggy Ann Flatt, age 81, passed away on Friday, March 29, 2019 at Maury Regional Medical Center.
Peggy was born on February 9, 1938 in Wayne County, Tennessee to the late James David Story and Evie Estella Andrews Story. She married Richard “Al” Flatt and they created a beautiful life and family together. She was a wonderful loving mother to not only her children but also to the children at her daycare. Peggy owned the daycare for over thirty years and through that raised hundreds of children from zero to six years of age. She was a phenomenal cook; people would travel from all over just to have a taste of her cookin’. Peggy was particularly famous for her chicken ‘n dumplings, chicken and dressing, biscuits, and coconut pies and cakes. She was a dedicated member of First United Pentecostal Church for over fifty years. Peggy had an exceptional singing voice. She was frequently sought after to use her gift; she loved to sing praises to her Lord.
The family will visit with friends and family on Sunday March 31, 2019 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at First United Pentecostal Church. Services will be held on Monday April 1, 2019 at 11:30 a.m. at First United Pentecostal Church with Pastor Telford Tharp and Jason Keyser officiating and music by Johnny Minick. Burial will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens.
Peggy is survived by her husband Richard A. “Al” Flatt; daughter Cherylanne (Britt) Gober; grandchildren Valerie Pierce, Derrick Pierce, Brittany Gober, Hunter Pierce, James Richard Flatt, Casey Flatt, Shane Flatt; great-grandchildren Blake Pierce and Brylee Pierce; brother James (Marlynn) Palford Story; and daughter-in-law Leasia Flatt.
Peggy was preceded in death by sons David Dewaine Flatt and John Flatt; brothers James Alford (Marie) Story, Albert Lee (Brenda) Story, and James T. Story.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
