Mrs. Peggy Barnett Hicks, 89, a resident of Mt. Pleasant, died Sunday, November 3, 2002 at Hillview Health Care.
Funeral services for Mrs. Hicks will be conducted Wednesday, November 6, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. at the Williams Mt. Pleasant Funeral Home with Reverend Milton Hicks and Reverend Bob Adair officiating. Burial will be in the Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
The Winston County, Alabama native was the daughter of the late Martin Glenn and Ota Aldridge Barnett. She was the widow of Opril Hicks. She was long-time owner and operator of Hicks Grocery Store and former bookkeeper for Hillview Haven Nursing Home. She was a member and co-founder of the Southside Baptist Church of Mt. Pleasant. She was named Who's Who of the South by the Order of the Eastern Star and was a past Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star.
She is survived by three daughters, Eleana McCoy and Patsy Russell both of Columbia, TN and Dorthy Jean Edward Price of Atlanta, GA; ten grandchildren, Karen Charles Bryan of Madison, AL, David Alan Beverly Price of Charleston, SC, Michael Susan McCoy of Sugarland, TX, Pamela Edwin Burgess of Dallas, GA, Roger E. Jill Russell of Lewisburg, TN, Vicki Jeffery Hendricks of Acworth, GA, Kimberly John Curran of Madison, AL, Timothy H. Sherry Russell of Columbia, TN, Edward F. Stephanie Price, III of Kennesaw, GA, and Lisa Wright of Nashville; eighteen great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons and grandsons-in-law.
