Paul A. Andersen, age 85, passed away on Sunday, September 27, 2015 at NHC Columbia after a battle with cancer.
A private memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church in Columbia, Tennessee at a later date.
Paul was born in Iowa in 1930 from Danish immigrants Axel and Jenny Andersen. He spent the majority of his youth in Pasadena, California. He later served in the Navy from 1952 to 1953. After his military service, he took a job with the Brown Shoe Company out of St. Louis where he was a Regional Sales Rep for Buster Brown Shoes. In 1971 Paul opened the Little Cobbler Shoe Store in the Highland Village Shopping Center in Jackson, Mississippi serving many customers from Mississippi and the surrounding states. An avid golfer, he and wife Laverne enjoyed playing golf at Colonial Country Club of Jackson along with taking several golfing trips. He was most proud of starting his grandsons in the game of golf.
He is survived by his wife of sixty-three years Laverne Andersen; daughter Terri Ross (Jim) of Columbia, Tennessee; grandsons Thomas Marx of Boston, Massachusetts, Andersen Marx of Atlanta, Georgia, and Christopher Marx of Camp Lejeune, North Carolina; sister Ann Lisa Gorman (John) of Hemet, California; niece Kari Steinwart; and nephew Johnny Gorman.
