Patricia Ann Rochelle, R.N.

October 23, 1940 — December 6, 2023

Columbia

Patricia Ann Rochelle, R.N., a woman of unwavering determination and boundless compassion, bid farewell to this world on December 6, 2023, in Columbia, Tennessee. Born on October 23, 1940, to the late Lola Beard Oster in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, Patricia's legacy is marked by a life of profound purpose and countless contributions.

For the majority of her life, Patricia called Tennessee home, despite the numerous relocations she encountered throughout the country. Early on, she exhibited a steadfast commitment to her ambitions, diligently seeking out her own knowledge that resonated with her future profession. Her excellence in her studies at Haylong High School is what earned her a scholarship to further her education.  A graduate of the Baptist School of Nursing, her dedication led her to spend the first decade of her career as a Registered Nurse at Maury County Hospital, now known as Maury Regional Medical Center, eventually rising to the role of head surgical nurse.

Her journey continued with a remarkable 33-year tenure as a registered nurse at Columbia State Community College, where she left an indelible mark on countless lives. Patricia's passion extended beyond the confines of her profession; she dedicated herself to the American Heart Association as a CPR instructor, imparting life-saving skills to many professionals. Despite her introverted nature, she excelled as a trainer in OSHA Safety Procedures and Requirements, showcasing her commitment to the well-being of others. Additionally, Patricia served on the Board of Chairmen at the Columbia Cares Organization, further illustrating her commitment to the community she called home.

At 83 years old, Patricia Rochelle exemplified a life devoted to helping others and achieving her goals. Her unwavering faith in God's grace guided her through the years, providing solace and strength. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests memorial contributions to be made in Patricia's honor to the American Heart Association and the American Cancer Society, organizations close to her heart.

Patricia's memory will forever be cherished by her loving daughter, Amy Hale; her sister and confidante, Katie York and dear brother-in-law: Dwight York; and multiple nieces and nephews. In addition to her mother, Patricia is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ernest Harold Rochelle, and her son, Timothy Harold Rochelle.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, December 8, 2023, at 3:00 PM at Polk Memorial Gardens in the Garden of Good Shepherd.

As we mourn the loss of a remarkable woman, let us celebrate Patricia Ann Rochelle's life—a life rich in purpose, compassion, and an enduring legacy of service to others. May she rest in eternal peace.
