Mr. Oxford Staggs, Jr., 71, a resident of South Park Street in Hohenwald and a former long- time resident of Aurora, Colorado, died Friday, October 8, 2004 at his home.
A memorial service for Mr. Staggs will be conducted Sunday, October 17, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at the New Hope Baptist Church on the Waynesboro Highway in Hohenwald with Reverend Jerry McDonald officiating. Williams Funeral Home in Columbia is in charge of arrangements.
The Florence, Alabama native was the son of the late Oxford, Sr. and Mary Lee Gandy Staggs and the husband of Ola Mae Bowen Staggs. He was a retired hose maker with Gates Rubber Company in Denver, Colorado and a former employee of Mato Insulation in Denver. He was an avid camper, a veteran of the US Navy, and a member of the New Hope Baptist Church in Hohenwald.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Vincent Ray Staggs of Denver, CO; a sister, Earlene Price of Florence, AL; several nieces, nephews and special cousins.
