Owen E. Johns, Jr.
October 28, 1921 — March 31, 2005
Mr. Owen E. Johns, Jr., 83, formerly of the Water Valley Community and resident of Early Road in Columbia, died Thursday at NHC/ Columbia Health Care.
Funeral services for Mr. Johns will be conducted Saturday, April 2, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at the Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Billy Kimbrough officiating. Burial will be in the Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Friday from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
The Giles County native was the son of the late Owen E., Sr. and Ora Belle Richardson Johns and was the husband of 57 years to Ellen Virginia Lawhorn Johns. He was a retired heavy equipment operator with M.C. West Construction for 36 years. He was a faithful attender of the First Baptist Church of Columbia.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Rachel Bernard Sealey of Hohenwald, TN; five sons, Rondal Johns of Chapmansboro, TN, Larry Johns of Pulaski, TN, Billy Joan Johns, Aaron Tina Johns, and Nathan Mary Gale Johns all of Columbia, TN; a sister, Sybil Jones of Savannah, GA; 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Ann Johns.
Pallbearers will be Marty Johns, Douglas Johns, Jason Johns, Mitchell Johns, Frank Springer, and Keith Lawhorn. Honorary pallbearers will be members 0f the Ned Bridges Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church, nurses and staff of Third Floor and Skilled Nursing Unit at Maury Regional Hospital.
