Oscar "Coon Dog" Stanfill

Oscar Roy "Coon Dog" Stanfill was born July 12, 1928 in Hickman County, TN. He was the son of the late Richard R. Stanfill and Betty Ann Kelley Stanfill. He was the husband of the late Bessie Seaton Stanfill.
Oscar was an avid coon hunter and was the oldest surviving member of the Maury County Coon Hunters Club. He was also the oldest member of Williamsport Baptist Church. Oscar was retired from the maintenance department of Occidental Chemical Company and was a member of the Benton Mason Lodge #111.
Mr. Stanfill passed away on Tuesday evening, September 13, at his residence in Duck River.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Rev. Mylen Coble officiating. Burial will follow in the Williamsport Baptist Cemetery.
The family will visit with friends on Friday from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
Survivors include his children, Stephen W. "Bear" Stanfill of Williamsport, Kenneth W. "Kenny" Stanfill of Duck River and Gloria Stanfill of Duck River; grandchildren, Brian Jessica Cox of Duck River and Whitney Cox of Columbia; great-grandchildren, Ariell Nicole Newcomb and Eli Gabriel Cox along with one sister, Letha Pullen of Columbia. In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Stanfill was preceded in death by brothers, Harlan Stanfill, Hubert Stanfill, Buford Stanfill and Clifton Stanfill and sisters, Ruby Potts, Ruth Love and Retha Daniels.
Pallbearers will be Shannon Love, Donald Love, William Olejniczak, James Olejniczak, Lewis Newcomb, Jr., and Wendell Pullen. Honorary pallbearers will be George Riley, Donna Smith, Ricky Cook, Joe Bell, Michael Mash and Wayne McCord.
The family requests that memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
