Ollie B. Beckum Whitwell

Mrs. Ollie B. Beckum Whitwell went to be with our Lord on Friday, March 10, 2006, after a stay at Rosewood Manor. She was a lifelong member of the Mt. Joy Community.
She was born May 6, 1923 in the Mt. Joy Community of Maury County, the daughter of the late Almon Basil and Rena Gilmore Beckum. On December 27, 1945, she married James Paul Whitwell, who preceded her in death on October 6, 1989. She was a member of the Mt. Joy Cumberland Presbyterian Church and a homemaker, who loved gardening and raising her flowers.
They had one son and daughter-in-law, James Wayne and Virginia Adair Whitwell of Columbia; one granddaughter and her husband, Kelly and Jonas Whitwell of Columbia; two great grandchildren, Noah and Gracelyn Whitwell of Columbia; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Jurlean Lamar, her brothers, Almon Beckum and James L. Beckum and a niece, Wilma Bailey.
Mrs. Whitwell service will be conducted Sunday, March 12, 2006 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Reverend Dwight Liles officiating. Burial will be in the Bailey Cemetery in Mt. Joy. Visitation with the family will be Saturday from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be members of the family.
