Olive Cavender

September 12, 1918 — August 11, 2007

Ms. Olive J. Cavender, age 88, most recently a resident of Life Care Center in Sparta and a long time resident of the Riverside community in Columbia passed away on Saturday, August 11, at White County Hospital.

Funeral services for Ms. Cavender will be conducted Monday August 13, at 10:00 A.M. at the Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Wayne Hardison officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens.

The family will visit with friends on Sunday from 4:00 ?8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

The Maury County native was the daughter of the late, Horace and Sabina McNabb Cavender. She retired after 32 years as an executive secretary for Bellsouth and was a member of Northview Church of Christ. Ms. Cavender was very active in her church and community and was a member of American Legion Auxiliary, Telephone Pioneers of America, and Business and Professional Women?s Club.

Survivors include 3 nephews: Ernie Beverly Cavender of Cookeville, Tim Margie Cavender of Cookeville, and Horace Ray Cavender of Lenoir City; one niece: Rhonda Larry Clark of Kingston; two sister-in-laws: Margaret Cavender of Cookeville and Christine Woods of Harriman; several great nieces and nephews and three great- great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers: Ernest Cavender and Troyce Cavender and one sister and brother-in-law: Katheryn and Harlan Williams.

Pallbearers will be Horace Ray Cavender, Ernie Cavender, Tim Cavender, Larry Clark, Kenneth Farris, Stanfill Farris, and J.T. Woods.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to be made to Columbia Academy; 1101 W. 7th Street, Columbia, TN.
