Mr. Eligie Olie Bennett, age 75, a resident of Taylor Store Road and a longtime resident of Hampshire, passed away on Friday, November 7, at his residence.
Funeral services for Mr. Bennett will be conducted Sunday November 9, at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Mt Pleasant with Brother Jeff Foster officiating. Burial will follow in the Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #19.
The family will visit with friends Saturday from 11:00 A.M. until 9:00 P.M. at the funeral home
The Maury County native was the son of the late Myrtle O. Bennett and Mattie R. Parker and the husband of Jewell C. Lovett Bennett for 52 years. Mr. Bennett served two years in the National Guard and two years in the United States Navy. He retired after 27 years of service with Industrial Products and was a member of the Spencer Hill Church of Christ.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons: David Tammy Bennett, Ernest Bennett and Joseph Elaine Bennett, all of Hampshire; three daughters: Carolyn Ed Himes, Donna Farris and Lisa Ricky Hill all of Hampshire; three sisters: Barbara Robert Bolton of Mt. Pleasant, Ruby Jerry Isabell of Summertown and Ruth Ann Shelton of Winchester, TN; one brother: Billy Gloria Bennett of Mt Pleasant; 13 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son: Ray Bennett and a sister: Annie Mae Boshers.
Pallbearers will be Matthew Bennett, Joe- Joe Bennett, Darrell Lovett, Tommy Dale, Thomas Dale, Steven Bennett and Chad Himes.
Honorary pallbearers will Caris Healthcare, Adam Himes, Ricky Hill, Jr. Ernie Hill, Jessica Hill, Christian Bennett, Christopher Bennett, Nathan Farris and Joshua Bennett.
