Mr. Odell Jennings, age 80, a resident of Knud Drive in Columbia, passed away on Wednesday, December 8, 2010 at Signature Health Care in Columbia.
Born September 29, 1930 in Little River, TX, he was the son of the late Robert and Effie Moon Jennings and the husband of Irene Smith Jennings. He began his career with General Electric when it opened and retired from the paint department. He was a member of Highland Park Baptist Church and a US Army veteran of the Korean War.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son: Daniel Norma Jennings of Culleoka; brothers: James Louise Jennings of MS and Tom Alice Jennings of Summertown; grandchildren: Ben Goff, Jessi Bell Pruett and Deanna Potts; great grandchildren: Alex and Clay Pruett, Christopher Drew and Kristen Jade Collins; sister: Wilma Sue Jennings of Marietta, GA; sisters in-law: Annie Hull of Summertown and Johnnie Gray of Tigret, TN; brothers-in-law: Bud Jo Smith of FL and Bobby JoAnn Smith of Nettleton, MS. He was preceded in death by a daughter: Janis Jennings Goff.
Funeral services for Mr. Jennings will be conducted Saturday at 1:00 PM in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Rev. Mike Dawson officiating. Burial will follow in the Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by the US Army.
Pallbearers will be family members. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of Highland Park Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM and Friday from 11:00 Am to 3:00 PM at the funeral home.
