Norman Wayne Davis

August 18, 1938 — February 24, 2013

Norman Wayne Davis was born August 18, 1938 in Mt. Pleasant, the son of the late Joseph Alexander Davis and Virginia Bassham Davis. In 1995, Wayne retired as a maintenance foreman with Zeneca in Mt. Pleasant. He thoroughly enjoyed hunting and dancing and in his earlier years had trained dogs. Wayne was a Master Mason, being a member of the Mt. Pleasant Masonic Lodge. During the Vietnam Era, he had served his country in the United States Army and was a member of the American Legion. Wayne was also a faithful member of the Porter’s Chapel United Methodist Church.

Wayne passed away on Sunday morning, February 24, at his residence in the presence of his loving and devoted family.

Survivors include his wife, Kathleen Daniels Giles Davis of Mt. Pleasant; two sons, Stephen Wayne Davis and Michael Joe Davis, both of Mt. Pleasant; one step-son, Stephen Paul (Candy) Giles of Lawrenceburg; two granddaughters, Makenna Marie Giles and Molly Reanna Giles; his special aunt, Kathleen Johnson of Mt. Pleasant along with two special friends, Robert Wood and Mike Gaddes. Wayne was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his sons, Peggy Marlin Davis.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Bro. Ezell Rose and Bro. Bobby Gobble officiating. Burial will follow in Arlington Cemetery.

The family will visit with friends on Monday from 5:00 – 9:00 P.M. at the funeral home with a Masonic service being conducted at 7:00 P.M.

Pallbearers will be Michael Davis, Robert Wayne Wood, Mike Gaddes, Tim Rail, Richard Cothran, John Daniels, David King, Gary Calvert and Charles Bassham. Honorary pallbearers will be Brian and Franklin Schaffer, Joey Davis, Jeff Sullivan, James Walter Marlin and members of the Porter’s Chapel Adult Sunday School Class
