Norma Irene Hill

Norma Irene Roberson Hill, age 86, passed away on Wednesday morning, April 5, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Norma was born August 29, 1930 in Lawrence County, the daughter of the late Grady Roberson and Iva Irene McNutt Roberson. She was the wife of Thelton R. Hill, and they would have celebrated 67 years of marriage on July 1. Norma taught for many years in the Lawrence County School System. She was an excellent seamstress and always sewed clothes for her daughter. She never failed to have a hot meal on the table when her husband came in from working on the farm. He said that she always made life easier for him. Norma was very energetic and industrious, always doing something. She was a wonderful wife and mother and her life was full of friends. She was highly respected by all who knew her. She was very serious minded and loved having her family near. Norma was a member of the Jackson Heights Church of Christ.

Survivors include her husband, Thelton R. Hill of Columbia; children, Diane (Norman) Webb of Athens, AL and Mark (Janna) Hill of Dayton, OH; grandchildren, Norman (Barbara Jo) Webb, Jr., April Webb, Westley (Raina) Webb, Shala (Alan) Hudson, Jobe, Elaina and Tamela Hill; great-grandchildren, Emily, Kara, and Sabrina Webb, Corbin and Coltin Webb and Iyla and Everly Hudson.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 10:00 A.M. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Shawn Jeffries, Norman Webb, Norm Webb, Jr., and Westley Webb officiating. Entombment will follow in the Polk Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The family wlll visit with friends on Friday from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Street, Doug Frazier, Lee Nicholson, Clifton Kelley, Jimmy Duvall and Lester Crain.
