Mrs. Norma Cummins Brashears, age 72, of Mt. Pleasant passed away at Maury Regional Medical Center on Thursday, September 25, 2014 unexpectedly following a seven year battle with multiple myeloma.

Norma was born on August 16, 1942 to Arnold Odell Cummins and Amy Brawner Cummins in Maury County, Tennessee. She married Ronald W. Brashears on August 19, 1960 and they had 54 years together. She was well known in the Mt. Pleasant community as the owner of County Probation for several years.

Being of the Christian faith, she loved and helped everyone. She never met a stranger and had the biggest heart and was very compassionate. She was known as a hard fighter who would never give up on family when there was a battle to be fought. She enjoyed reading and making wreaths and flower arrangements.

Mrs. Brashears is survived by her husband: Ronald Brashears of Mt. Pleasant; children: Tim (Kelly) Brashears of Mt. Pleasant, Tracey (Bobby) Haywood of Mt. Pleasant, Kathy Brashears (special daughter) of Culleoka; granddaughters: Natalie (Jonathan) Hackney, Mary Claire Brashears and Emily Grace Brashears; great-grandchildren: Addison Haywood and Mikey Hackney; bonus grandchildren: Noah, Gracie and Mathan Whitwell; siblings: Eldon Sonny (Sara) Cummins, Bobby (Nancy) Cummins and Lynn (David) Chunn; special nephews: Chad (Dawn) Hollis and Kevin Hollis; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews; special friends: Bill (Bobbie) Workman, Beth Hickman, special cousins: Gail (Bobby) Meigs and Linda Brawner Clark. She is preceded in death by her parents: Arnold Odell and Amy Brawner Cummins; niece: Kimberly Hollis and sister: Bonnie Hollis.

Funeral services will be held for Norma on Sunday, September 28, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Bro. Mark King officiating. Burial will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 27 at the funeral home.

Chad Hollis, Kevin Hollis, Jonathan Hackney, John Chunn, Cody Hollis and Tad Cummins will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Judge Lee Bailey, Kathy Knight, the girls at General Sessions Part II Court, Maury County Sheriff’s Department, Spring Hill Police Department, Mount Pleasant Police Department, Michelle Vandree and Larry Moon.

The family would like to give special thanks to the Sarah Cannon Cancer Center, Dana Thompson and the ICU at Maury Regional Medical Center.
