Noland E. Kirby, age 90, passed away on Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at Maury Regional Medical Center.
Noland was born on February 18, 1925 to the late Rev. Pascall Adolphus Kirby and Mary Lou Italy Neal Kirby in Bold Springs, Tennessee. Noland married Blossom Elizabeth Gianfrancesco in 1945. The two were happily married for sixty-seven years until Blossom’s passing in 2012. Noland proudly served his country in the United States Army and served during WWII. He was a technical sales representative for Dana Corporation. He was a member of the Hohenwald Mason Lodge #607 for fifty years and was a member of the American Legion Herbert Griffin Post #19. Noland’s family were pioneers in Tennessee; they date back to seven generations. He was a member of Riverside United Methodist Church. At age 89, Noland received his handgun carry permit; he was the oldest person to ever go through the course. He enjoyed people, was very social, and never met someone he did not like. Noland was an avid golfer and a private pilot at the Mt. Pleasant airport. Noland was well loved by his family.
A celebration of Noland’s life will be held at Riverside United Methodist Church on Saturday, November 21, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. David Spencer officiating. Military Honors will be provided by American Legion Herbert Griffin Post 19.
Noland is survived by his sons Glenn (Felice) Kirby of Brooklyn, New York, Donald (Mary) Kirby of Franklin, Tennessee, and Robert (Helen Landsman) Kirby) of Mountainview, California; grandchildren Jamie (John) Lommock, Holly Kirby, Corinna Kirby, Ellington Kirby, Erin (Cameron) Crouse, Brennen Kirby, Adam (Carla) Kirby, and Samantha (Gabe Hakim) Kirby; six great-grandchildren; and siblings Elizabeth (Clyde) Redman and Sue (Cliff) Nunnelly.
Noland was preceded in death by his wife Blossom Kirby; parents Pascall and Mary Lou Kirby; and siblings Ruth, Veatrice, Martha, Charles, and Neal.
