Neva Joyce Denton

Neva Joyce Belew Denton, age 84 a resident of Columbia, TN, passed away at her home on June 30, 2017.

Neva was born on May 31, 1933 in Florence, Alabama to the late Andrew Goodman and Myrtle Howell Goodman. Neva retired after being the longtime manager of both the Santa Fe School Cafeteria and the Lauderdale County School Cafeteria. She was a long time member of Cool Springs Primitive Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends on Sunday July 2nd from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia, TN. A service in celebration of Neva’s life will take place on Monday July 3rd at Spry Funeral Home in Athens, AL beginning at 2 pm. The family will visit with friends from noon until service time at Spry Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Anderson Cemetery in Anderson, Alabama.

Neva is survived by her three sons: Philip Belew of Columbia, Vance (Paula) Belew of Columbia and Jeff Belew of Cornersville; one daughter: Marilyn Belew Haynes of Hartselle, AL; six grandsons: Byron Haynes, James (Joy) Haynes, Ben (Jody) Belew, Bryant (Taylor) Belew, Eric Belew and Colton Belew; two granddaughters: Ashley Belew and Amanda Haynes; one brother: Jack Goodman; one sister: Robbie Griggs. She is also survived by her three great- grandchildren. Neva is preceded in death by her two husbands: James Amos Belew and Patrick Denton; two brothers: Eugene Goodman and Chesley Goodman; two sisters: Willie T. Cagle and F. A. Haney.
