Nettie C. Sexton

Mrs. Nettie C. Sexton, age 87, a longtime resident of Wall Street in Mt. Pleasant, passed away peacefully on Friday, Aug. 6 at Maury Regional Medical Center.

Born November 9, 1922, the Maury County native was the daughter of the late Ollie and Cora Boshers Nance and the wife of the late William N. Sexton. She was a retired seamstress for Mt. Pleasant Manufacturing, who adored her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, loved working in her flower garden, watching hummingbirds and visiting cemeteries. She was a member of Allensville Baptist Church and her favorite scripture was John 3:16.

Mrs. Sexton is survived by children: Janet Wayne Vandiver and Billy Joe Donna Sexton, both of Mt. Pleasant and William A. Rosemary Sexton of Columbia; grandchildren: Regina Quatrone, Teri Sexton, Trenton Vandiver, Peyton Vandiver and Daniel Sabrina Sexton, all of Mt. Pleasant, Brandy Robert Crowell, Jared Jessica Ayers, both of Columbia and Jillian Travis Quillen of Athens, AL; great grandchildren: Emily Sexton, Avery Sexton, Kahle Sexton, Phoebe Turner, Haley Ayers, Kayla Ayers, Anthony Watkins and Shelby Rawson; sisters: Betty Ann Sutton and Annie Ruth Spears, both of Mt. Pleasant; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sisters: Irene Nance, Bessie Malugin, Allene Uselton, Janie Marie Nance; brothers: Cecil Nance, Charlie Nance and O.C. Nance.

Funeral services for Mrs. Sexton will be conducted 4:00 PM Monday, August 9 in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home of Mt. Pleasant with Rick Points and Rev. William Owens officiating. Burial will follow in the Polk Memorial Gardens.

The family will visit with friends on Sunday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Daniel Sexton, Jared Ayers, Randy Nance, Jimmy Lott, David Lott, Dereck Clifton, Anthony Watkins and Travis Quillen. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Underwood, Gene Craig, Steve Renfro, Miles Scott, Robert Crowell, Larry Nance, Allen Vandiver and Dr. Gaylon Harris. A special thanks to the staff of NHC/Hillview.
