Mrs. Nelsie Carroll Cothran, age 95, resident of the Mt. Joy Community, passed away on Monday, June 27, 2011 at Hidden Acres Nursing Home.

Mrs. Cothran was born on July 9, 1915 in Lewis County, Tennessee and was the daughter of the late Warren and Lacy Stokes Carroll. She was the wife of the late Elbert Cothran. Mrs. Cothran was a seamstress with Weathertamer. She loved quilting, reading and sewing. Mrs. Cothran was a member of Macedonia Church of Christ.

Mrs. Cothran is survived by three daughters, Betty Gibson and Verba Cothran both of Mt. Pleasant and Judy Caughron of Columbia; a son, Eddie Cothran of Mt. Pleasant; a daughter-in-law, Cora Cothran of Ashland City; two sisters, Helen Harden and Joyce Hudson both of Hohenwald; a brother, Glenn Betty Carroll of Hohenwald; her grandchildren, Leanne Gary Webber of Ashland City, Cindy Buster McAlpine of Murfreesboro, James Cothran, Jr. of Baltimore, MD, Jenny Cothran of Mt. Pleasant, Will Pam Gibson of Murfreesboro, Jeff Trish Gibson of Borden, IN, Carman Jerry Holder of Mt. Pleasant, Laura Ian Myers of Nashville, Rebecca David Gates of Nashville and Christy Stan Massey of Mt. Pleasant; 12 great-grandchildren; and 8 great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, James Cothran, Sr.

Funeral services for Mrs. Cothran will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, June 30, 2011 in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Mike Williams officiating. Interment will follow at Arlington Cemetery.

The Cothran Family will receive friends from 4-9 P.M. on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Grandsons and great-grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
