Mrs. Nellie Mae George Benderman, age 85, a resident of Southport Road in Culleoka, passed away on Sunday, September 30, at her residence.
Funeral services for Mrs. Benderman will be conducted Wednesday at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Russell Peery and Luke Dunn officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens.
The family will visit with friends on Tuesday from 5:00 ? 9:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
The Huntsville, Al, native was the daughter of the late John Wesley and Frances Thomas Jordan George. She was the wife of the late James Robert Benderman. Mrs. Benderman was a graduate of Riverton High School in Huntsville, and retired in 1987 as manager with Hancock Fabrics. She was a member of the Porter?s Chapel Methodist Church and the Porter?s Chapel Friendship Club. Mrs. Benderman started the children?s sermon program at Porter?s Chapel UMC in 1992, which continues today.
She is survived by her children: John Mary Benderman of Eads, TN, Jemmy Faye Gilly Andrews of Culleoka, Patricia Jarrell of Nashville, Wesley Benderman of Culleoka, Margo Robert Andrews of Culleoka and Debbie McCord of Mt. Pleasant; grandchildren: Linda Gibson, Lissa Lewis Osborne, Kirk Susan Marks, Shannon Carrie Davis, Mandy Benderman, Nellie Benderman, Jennifer Benderman, Jacob McCord, Maegan McCord, Scott Andrews and Steven Andrews; great-grandchildren Jerad Osborne, Cody Brittany Gibson, Jessica Osborne, Michael Lane Chunn, Alexia Marks, Alexus Deknoblaugh, Mikayla Benderman, Jo? Kovie Williams, Rebecca Davis, Lane Davis and Marrissa Davis. She was preceded in death by 2 brothers and 4 sisters, all of Alabama. The family would like to give special thanks to Dale Blair with the Hospice of the Highland Rim and special loving friend, Maria Morris.
Pallbearers will be Danny ?Chigger? Grooms, Kirk marks, Shannon Davis, Cody Gibson, Jerad Osborne, Scott Andrews, Jacob McCord, Steven Andrews and Michael Lane Chunn. Honorary pallbearers will be Roy Wayne Groom, Danny Grooms, Arnold Grooms, Charles Grooms, Tony Grooms, members of the Porter?s Chapel Methodist Church, Columbia Fire Department Honor Guard, Dr. Moataz Toban and Dr. J. Cummins Couch.
