Mrs. Nell Edwards Meadows, 80, a resident of Edgewood Drive in Mt. Pleasant and former long-time resident of Hattiesburg, Missisippi, died Thursday, December 2, 2004 at Maury Regional Hospital.

A memorial service for Mrs. Meadows will be conducted Sunday, December 5, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Mt. Pleasant with Reverend Phillip Wright officiating. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 1:30 p.m. until service time at the church. Graveside services will be held at a later date at the Hollywood Cemetery in McComb, Mississippi. Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant is in charge of the arrangements.

The Water Valley, Mississippi native was the daughter of the late George Thomas and Anna Belle Anderson Edwards. She was the widow of Newlon Lee Meadows, Jr. who died May 11, 2004. She was a homemaker and former operator for Illinois Central Railroad in Jackson, Tennessee. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Mt. Pleasant in which she was active in the affairs of the United Methodist Women. She was a member of the O.E.S. Chapter 165 in Ethridge, Tennessee.

She is survived by two daughters, Christina Eugene McCary of Monterey, LA and Jane Jeff Brackett of Newton, IL; a son, Newlon Lee Meadows, III of Riverton, IL; a sister-in-law, Betty Fuqua of Milan, TN; seven grandchildren, Mitzi Kevin Clark of San Antonio, TX, Bryan Martin of Ashville, NC; Benjamin Martin of Houston, TX, Michael Brackett, Christopher Brackett, Jason Brackett, and Haden Brackett all of Newton, IL; two great grandchildren.
