Ned McPeak, Jr., age 84, passed away Tuesday, November 3, 2015, at his farm in Pulaski, Tennessee.
Ned was born August 9, 1931, in Rutherford County, to Ned McPeak, Sr. and Jennie Sullivan McPeak. Ned was married to Dalton “Dottie” Howell. He oversaw the livestock division at the UT Experiment Station in Spring Hill for forty-seven years. He was a cattleman and a member of the Cattleman’s Association. Ned was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather and a pillar of his community. He was truly an inspiration to all who were fortunate enough to meet him.
The family will visit with friends Thursday, November 5, 2015, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Friday, November 6, 2015, from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m., all at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia, Tennessee. Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 6, 2015, at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Williams Funeral Home with Bro. Bob Vassar officiating. Burial will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens.
Ned is survived by his sons Ricky (Lisa) McPeak of Franklin, Tennessee and Randy (April) McPeak of Montclair, Virginia; granddaughters Ashlee McPeak, Katie McPeak, and Emily McPeak; great-granddaughter April McPeak; brother Charles (Jane) McPeak of Hampshire, Tennessee; sisters-in-law Betty McPeak and Roberta McPeak; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Ned was preceded in death by his parents Ned and Jennie McPeak, Sr., wife Dottie McPeak, daughter Donna McPeak, seven brothers, and two sisters.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
Honorary pallbearers are the current and former employees of the UT Experiment Station.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
