Nancy Jo Hughes

Mrs. Nancy Jo "Harris" Hughes, 65, a resident of Long Branch Lane in Mt. Pleasant, died Monday, September 2, 2002 at Maury Regional Hospital.

Funeral services for Mrs. Hughes will be conducted Wednesday, September 4, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Williams Mt. Pleasant Funeral Home with Tommy Hagewood and Raymond Harville officiating. Burial will be in the Glenwood Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

The Maury County native was the daughter of the late Earl B. and Nellie Beckenbach Harris. She was the wife of JP Hughes whom she married in 1953. She was cafeteria manager of the Mt. Pleasant Elementary School for 25 years and a member of the Locust Street Church of Christ.

In addition to her husband, JP Hughes, she is survived by two daughters, Joan Dale Hughes Lindsey of Columbia and Leslie Tommy Hughes Pewitt of Mt. Pleasant; two sons, Gerald Alan Deana Hughes and Dale S. Kelly Hughes, both of Mt. Pleasant; a sister, Frances Ellen Don Brickey of Cottontown; five grandchildren, Hunter Lindsey of Columbia, Trey Pewitt, Dustin Hughes, Coty Hughes and Corey Hughes, all of Mt. Pleasant; several half brothers and half sisters; a aunt, Okie B. Gibson of Mt. Pleasant. She was preceded in death by a brother, Miles P. Harris.

Pallbearers will be Gary Hughes, Mike Goodgine, Kim Cagle, Joey Gibson, Mike Lindsey, Jake and John Wolaver.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Members, Elders and Deacons of the Locust St. Church of Christ, College View Church of Christ and the Staff of Mt. Pleasant Elementary School.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
