Mrs. Nadine Ervin Flanigan Johnson, age 64, resident of Lyon St. in Columbia, passed away Thursday, August 12 at Maury Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services for Mrs. Johnson will be conducted at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, August 16 in the chapel of the Williams Funeral Home of Columbia with Bro. David McGregor officiating. Interment will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 P.M. until 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the library at E.A. Cox Middle School, 633 Bear Creek Pike, Columbia, TN 38401, for the purchase of books.
Born March 19, 1946, the Maury County native was the daughter of Claudie Ervin of Columbia and the late Jewell Stanfil Ervin. She graduated from Columbia Central High School and was in the first 2 + 2 program through MTSU at Columbia State Community College. She was retired as a science teacher at E.A. Cox Middle School but she began her teaching career at Spring Hill High School. She had a passion for teaching science. She enjoyed fishing, reading, and watching science fiction. Mrs. Johnson was of the Presbyterian faith.
In addition to her father and her husband: Kenneth Ray Johnson of Columbia, she is survived by two daughters: Julie Flanigan and Lori Durb Hollis, both of Murfreesboro; two sisters: Janice Jack Whitley of Franklin and Debra John Totty of Santa Fe; two grandsons: Tyler and Tanner Hollis, both of Murfreesboro; two aunts: Shirley Scott and Lois McDowell, both of Nashville; three nieces; her loyal companion: Phoebe. She was preceded in death by her first husband of 24 years and the father of her children: Lawrence "Buzz" Flanigan.
Pallbearers will be Kenny Berlin, Tony Dias, Larry Ervin, Jerry Hartsfield, Mickey Hartsfield, Bubba Reed, and Darryl Scott. Honorary pallbearers will be the compassionate nurses in the CCU department at Maury Regional Medical Center and longtime friend of the family, Faye Hartsfield.
