Myrna Sue Powers Beard, age 73, of Columbia, passed away Thursday, February 28, 2013, at NHC Healthcare of Columbia.
Ms. Beard was born July 15, 1939, to the late Clarence Thomas Powers and Eloise Inez Davis Powers. She was married to her loving late husband, Kinnard “Ken” Beard for a wonderful 45 years and had several children together. Myrna worked at Weather Tamer and also was a store manager at Winning Moves. She was a long time member of Maury Hills Church in Columbia and the American Legion Post 19 Auxiliary. Ms. Beard enjoyed spending her time cross stitching, flower gardening, and completing crossword puzzles.
Myrna’s survivors include: Two daughters; Suzan Keene of Columbia and Kimberly Love of Murfreesboro; Three sons; Lt. Col. Samuel (Patricia) Beard of Old Hickory, Lt. Chandler (Felicia) Beard and Steven (Paula) Beard of Columbia; Five granddaughters; Sabrina Beard of Old Hickory, Victoria Beard and Tabitha Keene of Columbia, Autumn Beech of Columbia, and Sylvia Shugary of Old Hickory; Seven grandsons; Anders Beard of Columbia, Scott Love of Antioch, Alex Love of Murfreesboro, Zachary Beard of Old Hickory, Alex Beech of Columbia, Josh Wix and Kyle Wix of Old Hickory; One great-granddaughter, Anna Love of Murfreesboro; Three great-grandsons; Taegan Beech, Braeden Paul, and Sebastian Cook; One brother, Dennis (Reatha) Powers of Decatur, AL; Six nieces; Rita (James) Odom, Elana Powers, De’Adre Powers, Tonya (Joey) Davis, Tracy Scott, and Sena (Kent) Hollingworth; Three nephews; Larry Hartzog, Mike Hartzog, and Tim Kennedy; Her longtime friend, Shirley McNatt of Waynesboro; and April, Jordan, and Jessica Brady of Columbia.
In addition to her husband and parents, Ms. Beard was preceded in death by: Two sisters; Mildred Hartzog and Elaine Johnson; Three brothers; Clarence Jr., David, and Kenneth Powers, and One niece, Judy Paul Murphy.
Funeral services for Myrna Sue Powers Beard will be Tuesday, March 5, at 2:00pm at Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Bro. Russ Adcock officiating. Burial will follow in Santa Fe cemetery. Family will receive friends for visitation Monday, March 4, from 4:00 – 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be: Tony McKennon, Steve Farris, Trent Odom, Shannon Sparkman, Ben Davis, Zach Davis, and Angel Millet.
