Murry Evans Barker, 83, resident of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Saturday, November 26 at his residence.
Born March 23, 1928 in Maury County, son of the late Evans and Sadie Williams Barker and the husband of Katie King Barker for 61 years. He was retired from Monsanto, a veteran of the US Army during the Korean War and a member of First Baptist Church in Mt. Pleasant.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Jerry Kathy Barker of Franklin and Patricia Ingram of Columbia; grandchildren: Jill Thompson of S. Carolina, Jason Barker and Jennifer Barker, both of Nashville, Adam Corrie Ingram and Ashley Jonathan Riley, both of Columbia and Brent Barker of Spring Hill; great grandchild: Jayden Riley of Columbia. In addition to his parents, Mr. Barker was preceded in death by one son: Danny Barker in 2009; three brothers: Pfc. Raymond Barker, Herschel Barker and Beverly Barker.
Funeral services for Mr. Barker will be held 1:00 PM Friday at the First Baptist Church in Mt. Pleasant with Rev. Frank Webb and Rev. J.C. Christian officiating. Burial will follow in the Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by the Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #19. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant and on Friday from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM at the church.
Pallbearers will be Adam Ingram, Jason Barker, Brent Barker, Jonathan Riley, Jimmy Barker and Robert Hull. Honorary pallbearers will be Roger Barker and Donald Barker.
