Mitzi Pagel Burns,81, died August 1, 2021, at NHC Columbia from complications related to Covid. She was born August 5, 1939, in Brevard, NC to Ernest and Nannie (Cates) Giles. Mitzi was a longtime resident on Parkview Drive in Columbia, TN. where she was married to Julius Pagel, Sr. and raised their children.

In addition to her parents, she was proceeded in death by her sister- Nancy Giles Chappell, her brother- Ernest Giles Jr, newborn daughter- Angela Lynn, husband, and father to her children- Julius Pagel, Sr., husband Owen Burns and her beloved poodle, Pepper, who she loved greatly that passed away the day before she did.
Mitzi is survived by her children: Lee Ann (Laurie Beriswill) Pagel, Julius “Bud” (Lisa) Pagel, and Tim (Dana) Pagel. Grandchildren: Kayce (Jermaine) Brooks, West Pagel, and Chelsea Pagel. Great Grandchildren: Maraiya Brooks and Daisha Brooks and Great-great grandchild: Londynn Bailey.

A graveside service will be held at Polk Memorial Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Caris Hospice, and/or Maury County Animal Shelter. The family would like to personally thank the staff at NHC Columbia and Caris for the exceptional care they provided during the last days of Mitzi’s life. One last request from the family is to encourage you and your loved ones to receive the covid vaccine. There are many precious people’s lives that depend on it.
