Miss Katharine Davis

Miss Katharine Davis, age 98, a longtime resident of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Monday, May 17th , at NHC/Hillview.

A graveside service for Katharine will be conducted Thursday, May 20th at 3:00 P.M. at the Arlington Cemetery with Reverend Phillip Wright officiating.

Katharine was born February 2, 1912 in Maury County, the daughter of John Stenson and Simmie Perry Payne Davis. She was a retired school teacher after 37 years. She was graduate of Hay Long High School, Martin College and received her Bachelors degree from Middle Tennessee State Teachers College in Murfreesboro, TN. In 1926 Katharine was a Charter Member of the Virginia Mai Kittrell Circle of The King's Daughters and Sons which is still active in Mt. Pleasant. Katharine enjoyed working in her flower garden, reading, enjoyed listening to music, she enjoyed corresponding with her friends with beautiful, elegant keepsake notes. She was lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church in Mt. Pleasant.

Remembered by two cousins: Norma Thomas and Houston Parks of Columbia; special friend: Juanita Keys of Mt. Pleasant; caretaker: Louise Brown of Columbia; host of friends and students. She was preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law: Marvin Jack and Clara Davis.

A Memorial service for Katharine will be held Sunday, May 23, 2010 at 5:00 P.M.at the First United Methodist Church 202 South Main St, Mt. Pleasant.
