Rev. Minuard Ison, age 81, passed away on Sunday, September 2, at Maury Regional Hospital.
Funeral services for Rev. Ison will be conducted Thursday at 5:00 P.M. at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia. Burial will be on Monday at the Crescent Hills Cemetery in Waterford, MI.
Military honors will be provided at the funeral home by the Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19.
The family will visit with friends on Thursday from 3:00 P.M. until time of services at the funeral home.
Born in Skyline, KY, he was the son of the late George Bee and Callie Fields Ison and the husband of the late Sally Ison. He was a Navy veteran of WW II and was an ordained minister in both the Social Brethren and Baptist churches. He was retired as an inspector with General Motors. Rev. Ison was a member of the First Social Brethren Church, Pontiac, MI.
Survivors include one son: James Richard Pam Ison of White Lake, MI; two daughters: Linda George Higdon of Culleoka and Brenda Kelly Bryant of Columbia; grandchildren: Jim Gail Ison, Sean Ronny Ison, Jerry Shannon Higdon, Sherry Higdon, David Jennifer Higdon, Travis Bryant and Cassie Joshua Cornwall; great-grandchildren: Meghan Higdon, Katie Higdon, Trevor Ison, Bryan Higdon and Aiden Cornwall; brothers and sisters: Coburn Carolyn Ison, Gerty Arvil Ison, Mary Halcomb, Juan Turner, Janetta Warren Hickman, Joann Frank Copley, Cass Bonnie Ison, Mae Bill Whitaker and Zennith Pat Ison.
Rev. Ison?s son, sons-in-law and grandsons will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family would like to give special thanks to Casey and Dallas on the third floor at Maury Regional Hospital and to the nurses and staff of NHC Columbia.
