Minnie Dean Musgrove Roberson, 89, passed away on June 30, 2020 at NHC Columbia where she was receiving rehab.
Dean was born on March 14, 1931 to the late Alonzo Musgrove and Viola Gibson Musgrove Kennedy in Oak Grove, Giles County, Tennessee. She worked as a custodian at Columbia State Community College and retired after 10 years of service. Dean was more than just a sister, mother and grandmother; She was one of these to every person she knew and never met anyone she didn’t want to help or get to know. She loved cooking with her masterpieces being biscuits, fried chicken and all kinds of cakes and pies especially banana pudding. She was always photogenic. Most of her photos would easily show her sassy side with her hand on her hip or that smirk of hers. Her sass was only rivaled by her sweet tooth, making sure she always had candy or cakes for her grandchildren but also for herself. Dean’s sweet tooth was almost as sweet as she was. Her strong will and determination helped her support her family and stand her ground. She had a fierce love for her family, her faith and others. This was evident from the happiness that came from reading her bible, walking through the house singing hymns or being together with her family. She has left a legacy of kindness, generosity and strength. Just like when she was still with us, her ability to make anyone smile will continue in her memory.
Dean is survived by her children: Howard and Glen Roberson and Michelle Cannon; Daughter-in-laws Yolanda and Sharon Roberson and son-in-law James Cannon, all of Columbia; granddaughters Rachel Cannon Mathys (Hayden), Juliana, Jillian and Jorgena Roberson; grandsons Jakob, Jesse, Jared, Jaxon and Josef Roberson; two great granddaughters Allsyn and Myra Roberson; sisters Rose Rowland and Frances Arbuckle. She is preceded in death by granddaughter Abriel Roberson, sisters Mamie Jones and Janie Chapman; brothers Robert and Jesse Musgrove; step brothers J.B. and Clarence Kennedy Jr.; step sisters Alice Kennedy Estes, Myrtle Kennedy Henson and Bessie Mae Kennedy Brown.
