Mr. Milton Victor Brown, 75, a resident of McIntire Drive in Columbia, died Thursday, October 7, 2004, at his home.
Funeral services for Mr. Brown will be conducted Sunday, October 10, 2004, at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Brother Curtis Dowdy, Brother Johnny Mack Young, Lonnie Daniels and Kenneth Lovett officiating. Burial will be in the Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Friday from 5:00 to 8:00 pm and Saturday from 4:00 until 9:00 pm at the funeral home.
The Chattanooga, Tennessee native was the son of the late Carl Victor and Mollie Catherine Brown and husband of Margaret Underwood Swindle Brown. He was a retired senior staff insurance adjuster for G.M. Motor Insurance Corp. and attended the University of Tennessee. He helped establish the Maury County Gun Club, NRA instructor and taught instructors, active in the AARP, local 4-H camp gun safety and the Maury County Community Christmas program, a member of the Good Samaritans, the Heart to Heart, the Care & Share program, American Legion Post #19, the 40 & 8, the VFW, the F.O.P., past member of the Elks Lodge and a veteran of WWII. He was a member of Highland Church of Christ and St. Peter?s Episcopal Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Kathey Marc Miller of Smyrna, GA and Vickie David ?Boo? Bassham of Columbia; two stepsons, Jim Elizabeth Ann Swindle of Columbia and Gary Teresa Swindle of Baton Rouge, LA; a stepdaughter, Judy Russell of Columbia; a granddaughter, Amber Bassham of Columbia; three step grandsons, Tristin Russell of Columbia, Todd Russell of Phoenix, AZ and John Russell of Atlanta, GA; two step granddaughters, Rahni Meece and Kim Boshers, both of Mt. Pleasant.
He was preceded in death by a loving wife of 40 years, Elizabeth Scanlan Brown.
Pallbearers will Farrell Long, Bill Chaffin, Claude Mays, Roy Pate, Jim Flowers, Brian Meece, Dennis Lemon, Lonnie Daniels, Gerald Martin, James Bass and Kenneth Lovett. Honorary pallbearers will be Doug Short, Sach Layne, Wayne Bass, Paul Heiss, Dr. George Freder and the American Legion Post #19
