Milton Clyde Yancey, Sr.

September 21, 1922 — January 24, 2004

Mr. Milton Clyde Yancey, Sr., 81, died Saturday, January 23, 2004 at his residence on the Bear Creek Pike.

Funeral services for Mr. Yancey will be conducted, Tuesday, January 27, 2004, at 1:00 p.m. at the Williams Columbia Funeral Home with Reverend Steven Kelley officiating. Entombment will be in the Polk Memorial Gardens Mausoleum with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post # 19. The family will visit with friends Monday from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

The Maury County native was the son of the late, William Clyde and Ruby Winchester Yancey. He was the husband of Willie Pature Yancey. He retired from Brown & Root Construction Company based in Houston, Texas. He was a well known woodworker in the Middle Tennessee area and was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church. He served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II and was a member of the Disabled American Veterans.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, John Wayne Andrea Yancey, Mark A. Luann Yancey both of Columbia, TN and Bill Carole Yancey of Lewisburg, TN; two sisters, Virginia Milton Ryan of College Grove, TN and Cathy Watkins of Columbia, TN; six grandchildren, Brittany Beasley and Vicki Lee Shumate both of Columbia, TN, Laurie Cory Hood of Culleoka, TN, Kim Joey Mock of Montgomery, AL , Jeremy Yancey and Shaun Yancey both serving our country in the U.S. Marines; four great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Shumate, Daniel Yancey, Ryan Mock and Kristin Mock; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a son, Buster Yancey ;four brothers, Johnny Yancey, Roger Yancey, Charlie Yancey, and Al Yancey.

Pallbearers will be Jim Carpenter, Daniel Yancey, Shaun Yancey, Lee Shumate, Cory Hood, Kenneth Pitts, Ronnie Pitts, and Chris Yancey.

Honorary pallbearers will be staff of Hospice of the Highland Rim, members of St. Luke United Methodist Church, and Dr. Ben Gardner.
