Miles William London

July 11, 1924 — October 16, 2003

Mr. Miles William London, 79, a resident of East 17th Street in Columbia, died Thursday, October 16, 2003 at the Maury Regional Hospital.

Funeral services for Mr. London will be conducted Saturday, October 18, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at the Williams Columbia Funeral Home with Curtis Dowdy officiating. Burial will be in the Glenwood Cemetery with military honors being provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post # 19. The family will visit with friends Friday, October 17, 2003 from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

The Maury County native was the son of the late Gib and Ruth Harris London. He was husband of Icy Idella Spears London of Columbia. Mr. London was a retired captain from the Columbia Fire Department and member of the Highland Church of Christ. He was a United States Army veteran and proudly served his country in World War II and the Korean Conflict.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a brother, Joe Geneva London of Columbia, TN; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding Mr. London in death were two brothers, Albrey London and Billy London.

Pallbearers will be Ronald Greggs, Artie Haskins, Jimmy Chapman, J.B. Goldman, Gilbert London, and Donald Briggs. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Highland Church of Christ and past and present members of the Columbia Fire Department.
