Mildred Orr Liles

Mrs. Mildred J. Orr Liles, age 84, a resident of Garner Road in Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Thursday, July 23, at Rosewood Manor.

Funeral services for Mrs. Liles will be conducted Tuesday at 11:00 A.M. at the Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2800 Trotwood Avenue, Columbia, TN, with Pastor Eric Cox officiating. Burial will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens.

The family will visit with friends on Monday from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia.

The Maury County native was born on July 13, 1925, the daughter of the late Roy Orr and Rebecca Matthews Orr. She was the wife of the late Lonnie Liles, Jr. They were married for 56 years and he preceded her in death in 2002.

Mildred was a homemaker, loving mother and grandmother. She loved cooking for her family and friends. Some of her favorite pastimes were sewing and gardening. Mildred was a member of Christ is the Way Church. She loved the Lord, His people and praise and worship. Her family, including her brothers and sisters, were very gifted in music and loved to sing. Before becoming a part of the Christ is the Way Church, Mildred was a member of the St. James UPB Church on Cooper Street in Mt. Pleasant for many years.

Survivors include her children: Lonnie Martha Lyles, Portia Eric Cox and Bernetia Albert Ogilvie, all of Columbia and Kelvin Sharonita Liles of Hampshire; two sisters: Gladys Brownlee of Cleveland, OH and Lula Hardison of Mt. Pleasant; one brother: Hiawatha Orr of Mt. Pleasant; one daughter-in-law: Georgia Lyles of Perris, CA; 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and cousins and friends. Mildred is also survived by a special friend, Mattie Louise Tidwell at Rosewood Manor and a goddaughter, Juanita Lockridge of Columbia.

In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by two sons: James T. Lyles and Roy S. Lyles; two sisters: Patsy Ann Hylick and Willie Mae Means and three brothers: Roy Orr, Jr., Mathis Orr and J.W. Orr.

Pallbearers will be Craig Lyles, Keith Crawford, Eric Lyles, Kelvin Liles, Jr., Demetrius Cox and Timothy Cox.
