Mildred Hay Atkins Dile, age 89, passed away at NHC Columbia on Sunday, March 2, 2014.
Mildred was born to the late Eugene and Eva Brady Hay on July 12, 1924 in Maury County, Tennessee.
She loved being outside, especially working in her flowers. She loved cooking and baking. Chocolate cakes and raisin pies were her specialty.
Mildred is survived by her twin sons: Alvin Atkins of Columbia and Calvin (Carolyn Potts) Atkins of Santa Fe; grandchildren: Dana Atkins (Michael) Walters of Columbia, Briggett Atkins (Rodney) Collins of Culleoka, Calvin Layne (Ashley) Atkins of Fairview; great-grandchildren: Jonathan Walters and Blake Walters of Columbia, Josie Collins and Hannah Collins of Culleoka, and Alyssa Marie Atkins of Fairview; brother: Howard Wesley Hay of Columbia and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Ms. Dile is preceded in death by her siblings: Lorene Haskins, Marie Jett, Dorothy Ragsdale, Earl Hay and Sam Hay.
Funeral services for Ms. Dile will be held on Thursday, March 6, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Rev. Howard Alexander officiating. Burial will follow in Johnson Chapel Cemetery in Santa Fe. The family will visit with friends on Wednesday, March 5, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. also at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Mildred’s grandson: Calvin Layne Atkins; great-grandsons: Jonathan Walters and Blake Walters; and nephews: Wesley Hay, Jr., Sammy Haskins and Ronnie Jett.
