Michael "Mike" F. Thomas

Michael Francis “Mike” Thomas, Sr, 81, a loving father, grandfather, and friend who enjoyed woodworking, sports, and classic cars, passed at his home on January 8, 2023, in Columbia, TN.

Mike was born September 20, 1941, in Dellslow, West Virginia (near Morgantown) to Louris James and Augusta (Jardot) Thomas. He graduated from Saint Francis de Sales High School in Morgantown, West Virginia in 1959. He was a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of West Virginia University where he obtained a Master of Public Administration and B.S. in Accounting. Mike served as University Administrator and Accounting instructor at the following universities: Marshall, West Virginia, Oklahoma, Idaho State, Ohio, and Columbia State (TN).

Mike was a member of the St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Columbia, Tennessee, and is survived by his two children, Traci Thomas Brass (Ed) of Kennedale, Texas, and Michael Francis Thomas, Jr. (Vanessa) of Murfreesboro, TN; grandsons Alexander Thomas of Smyrna, TN; Dylan Thomas of Murfreesboro, TN; and step-granddaughter, Ally Ashman of Nashville, TN. Mike had a host of nieces, nephews, special friend, Carol Horn of Roanoke, Virginia, and countless other friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Donald, Mary Dell, Katherine “Kitty", Louris Jr. “Jim” (Linda), and Pete.

The family will receive friends at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia on Saturday, January 14, 2022, from 11:30 AM to 2:00 PM. To follow, the funeral service will begin at 2:00 PM.
