Michael lee "Mike" Potts, age 45, a resident of Demetros Place in Nashville, passed away on Monday, November 2, at Baptist Hospital in Nashville.
Funeral services for Mike will be conducted Thursday at 3:00 P.M. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home with Russ King officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by the United States Air Force.
The family will visit with friends on Thursday from 11:00 A.M. until time of services at the funeral home.
Born on February 28, 1964, Mike was the son of Raymond Potts of Columbia and the late Frances Brown Potts. He was the husband of Terri Matthews Potts of Nashville. Mike was a 1982 graduate of Columbia Central High School and received an Associate of Arts degree from Trevecca Nazarene College. He was a retired Master Sergeant with the Air Guard after serving in the United States Air Force and being called into active duty during his time with the Guard. He was a Network Systems Administrator with the Tennessee Farm Bureau Federation. Mike was a member of the Rural Hill Church of Christ in Nashville.
Survivors in addition to his father and wife include his two sons: Evan Michael Potts and Elijah Malcolm Potts of Nashville; his step-mother: Jean Potts of Columbia; brothers: Troy Heather Potts of Columbia, Harlan Shirley Potts of Columbia and Jimmy Brenda Cushing of Fayetteville; sisters: Joyce Charles Hubbell of Lynnville, Janice Johnny Smith of Columbia, and Kay Glenn Smith of Milton, FL; a sister-in-law: Sherri Jr. Bradley of Mt. Juliet; father and mother-in-law: Mac and Nancy Matthews of Nashville; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Jr. Bradley, Paul Gibson, Jamie Hubbell, Jeff Hubbell, Johnny Smith, Abner Roldan, Brian Kitchens, Charles Gibson and Steve Yates. Honorary pallbearers will be co-workers at the Tennessee Farm Bureau Federation.
The family would like to give special thanks to the doctors and staff at Baptist Hospital and to Mike's co-workers for all of the support.
The family has requested that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society, Maury County Unit, P. O. Box 1864, Columbia, TN 38402 or to the Evan and Elijah Potts Trust Fund at any Regions Bank location.
