Melissa Ann Hickman

Melissa Ann Colvett Hickman, 71, of Giles County, Tennessee, passed away peacefully at her home on January 31, 2025. She was born on March 13, 1953, at King’s Daughter Hospital in Columbia, Tennessee, to the late Cordia Dee Colvett and Alice Elizabeth Bennett Colvett.

Melissa had a passion for gardening, always tending to her flowers and houseplants with a green thumb. She had a deep love for animals, especially her dogs and horses. A true tomboy at heart, she cherished riding and embraced the outdoors. She was a dedicated Tennessee football fan and fiercely independent, known for her strong will and protective nature, especially when it came to her children. She also enjoyed baking for her family. 

She leaves behind a loving family who will carry on her memory: her children, Steve Hickman of Ethridge, Tennessee, and Miranda "Hickman" Higgens of Pulaski, Tennessee; her grandson, Drake Hickman of Loretto, Tennessee; her brothers, Gary Colvett (Sue Townsend) of Lynnville, Tennessee, and Kenneth Colvett; as well as six nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents.

Pallbearers will be Drake Hickman, Tim Colvett, Chris Colvett, John Colvett, Scotty James, Gary Colvett, and Joe Colvett.

A service to honor Melissa’s life will be held on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Williams Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant, Tennessee, with Rusty Colvett officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and again on Wednesday from 11:00 AM until the start of the service. Melissa will be laid to rest at Lucy-Roper-Colvett Cemetery in Giles County, Tennessee.

Her strength, love, and devotion to her family will be forever cherished.
