Private services were held with the family at St. Thomas Hospital.
Williams Funeral Home in Columbia is in charge of local arrangements.
A native of Columbus, MS, Melanie was preceded in death by her father, Franklin Weathers and husband: Jerry Martinez.
Survivors include her daughters: Summer Staten of Athens, GA, Alexandria Martinez and Sydney Martinez, both of Columbia; mother and step-father: Peggy and Howard Glidwell also of Columbia; one brother: Franklin Weathers of Plano, TX
