Maxie "Meme" Roy

Mrs. Maxie “MeMe” L. Roy, 83, resident of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on January 27, 2013 at NHC Columbia.

Funeral services for Mrs. Roy will be conducted on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Bro. Ezell Rose officiating. Burial will follow at Arlington Cemetery. The family will visit on Tuesday, January 29 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

The Maury County native was the daughter of the late John W. and Eliza McNeil Luttrell. She was a long time resident of Mt. Pleasant where she worked as a beautician and was the owner of K & M Beauty Shop for many years. Mrs. Roy was a member of Southside Baptist Church. Mrs. Roy had a million friends and her door was open to anybody. She was the “Rock” of the family. She greeted everyone with a smile and loved life.

She is survived by a daughter: Patricia Ann Sims of Mt. Pleasant; three grandchildren: Greta Lee Nichols of Mt. Pleasant, Charles Stacey Hinson of Cornelia, GA and Bethany Ann Lane, of Brentwood, Tennessee; four great-grandchildren: James Patrick Nichols of Mt. Pleasant, Kayla Nichols of Mt. Pleasant, Mary Beth Hinson of Brentwood, and Miranda Lane of Brentwood; nieces: Linda Frances, Martha Luttrell and Diana Kersey; nephews: Jerry Willoughby and Michael Willoughby.

She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, three sisters: Margaret Luttrell, Susie Egerton and Georgia Mae Luttrell; one brother: Johnny O. Luttrell and two nephews: Jimmy Ray Luttrell and Jody Ray Luttrell; and several great nieces and nephews.

Friends and family will serve as pallbearers. The family would like to thank Dr. Gaylon Harris and nurses who cared for Mrs. Roy at NHC Columbia. A special thank you goes to Christina Woodard and Joseph Jones for their kindness.
