Mr. Maurice Eugene Blais, 88, a former long-time resident of Northbridge, Massachusetts, died Thursday, December 2, 2004 at his residence on Lake Circle in Columbia.

Williams Funeral Home in Columbia is in charge of the arrangements. The family will have a private service to be held at a later date.

The Manville, Rhode Island native was the son of the late Donat Blais and Denise Bedard Blais. He was the husband of the late Rita Lauzon Blais who died in 1999. He was a retired inspector for General Motors Corporation in Framingham, Massachusetts. He was a communicant of the Church of the Good Shepherd Catholic Church and served our country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was known by his family and friends as ? the World?s Greatest New York Yankee fan?.

He is survived by a daughter, Linda Ray Poyer of Columbia, TN; a son Raymond Connie Blais of Sutton MA, a son, Steven Darlene Blais of Northbridge, MA, and 3 brothers, Fernand Ruth Blais, Rene Rita Blais , and Gerard Blais all of Manville RI; 5 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
